Learn the foundations of watercolour while painting native birds of Aotearoa. Build confidence step by step through guided weekly studies.

NZ Landscapes · 6-Week Acrylic Painting Course
Six weeks of landscape painting in acrylics, working through composition, colour mixing, texture, light and atmosphere. Never touched acrylics before? You'll be fine - the whole point of six weeks is that nothing has to happen all at once.
Missed the booked-out winter term? Spring term starts Thursday 15 October.
Botanical Watercolour Course
Five weeks of botanical watercolour, going further than the fundamentals. Build the core skills - linework, layering, colour mixing, working from observation - then push into something more expressive: florals with a point of view. Paint from real specimens and references, and learn to move beyond "correct" into work that actually looks like you.

A structured 5-week acrylic portrait course focused on foundational portrait techniques, proportions, colour mixing and building a finished painting step by step.

QAS Life Drawing Classes
Eight Wednesdays a term drawing from a live model, booked week by week - take the ones that suit you, in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Term 4: 14 Oct is at Mahi Tahi, not Puāwai (limited seats). 28 Oct is free - one spot per person, reserve ahead.
After School Art Programme · Ages 8-13
Ten Tuesdays of drawing, painting and mixed media for ages 8-13, in groups of eight so every child gets properly looked after. Projects change every week, and skills build all term.
Term 4 runs 13 October to 15 December - places go quickly.
Birds of Aotearoa · Watercolour Workshop

Kasia Hebda
Kasia is a professional artist, designer and certified art conservator from Poland, with 20+ years across large-scale murals, illustration, graphic design, painting - and teaching.
Teaching is how she practises
Teaching isn't separate from her own practice. Kasia takes her own advice: the philosophy she teaches is the one she paints by. She never leaves the house without a sketchbook.
Every class starts with method - but the real skill Kasia teaches is how not to stop: to push through the fear of making mistakes, trust the process, and keep making.
One of her students called her a philosopher. She'll take it.
She loves hiking with her husband and their dog, Muppet. She's an avid bird nerd, with a particular soft spot for ducks.
Kasia runs her studio at Country Lane, Frankton, Queenstown.
