New Zealand Birds 5-week Watercolours Course for Beginners

Want to paint like a pro? Join me for a 5-week in-depth exploration of watercolour painting techniques. Each week, we’ll craft a new composition inspired by one of the beloved native New Zealand birds, providing a hands-on opportunity to master essential watercolour techniques. I will share tips and tricks to help you get started.

Who is the class for?

This introductory course will provide you with the foundations of painting, helping you gain confidence in working with watercolours, but also learning how to use references to create artworks. Suitable for all levels, beginners are welcome. If you already have some skills but wish to develop them further and need a push, this course is perfect for you. Newcomers are welcome!

During the course you will learn:

·        Foundations of painting with a focus on the
specifics of the watercolour medium

·        Painting and drawing from references

·        Basics of colour theory

·        Tips for mixing colours

·        Cultivating a creative mindset

·        Overcoming the fear of making mistakes

Materials
All materials are provided. Feel free to bring your sketchbook, favourite brushes, coloured pencils, or any other materials you would like to use.  

Drop-in Option:
Considering just one session? You’re more than welcome. Please note, participants enrolled in the full course will be given priority in case of  overbooking. While individual sessions are available, the course is designed to build skills progressively week by week. Attending all 5 meetings ensures the most comprehensive and beneficial experience.
