✷ Hello and welcome to my creative corner ✷ I’m Kasia Hebda—artist, designer, and the only professional art restorer based in Queenstown, New Zealand. From restoring historic wall paintings across Europe to now running my own creative studio at Country Lane in Queenstown, it’s been quite a journey.Originally from Poland, I moved to Aotearoa in 2019 thinking it would only be for six months, but the world had other plans. 😅 Since then, I’ve been honing my craft as a freelance graphic designer. In 2022, I started my own business as Kasia Hebda Studio – working on design, murals, and art conservation. Adding the finishing retouches to my latest painting conservation project before applying final varnish. 😊 🎨This stage is one of my favourites — when weeks (sometimes even months) of delicate work finally come together and the piece begins to look great. It’s incredibly rewarding… and a little nerve-wracking! Why? The final varnish can make or break the visual unity of the painting, so we always test thoroughly before committing. But there’s still a small thrill in that moment of reveal.With contemporary artworks, the biggest challenge is often dealing with non-traditional or unstable materials — a modern mystery for every restorer.Personally, I love the retouching stage the most.
